So, if China were at all worried, like Hippomenes, that India would overtake them in this “race” that they are not worried about, then they will like Hippomenes toss some thorny crab apples* to distract the nattering classes in India.
So, here is my proposition.

Let us assume that the Polity called “Dung Poo Pew ” is ahead of the Polity called “Vishwa Parihasa” in some mythical race.
So what I’m suggesting is that rather than constantly comparing and tearing one’s clothes in agony, employ what the Japanese call “Nemawashi” and Poka Yoke
And it does not matter, if the technology was invented in Timbuktoo, Africa. Copy Paste, Repeat.
Nemawashi: Small incremental improvements, that make your daily experiences better in whatever “Ecosystem”, you have to interact with.

I land at Hyderabad or Bangalore Airports. The airports are spotless, well maintained, orderly and the people follow all the rules, the security is run smoothly like clockwork. The Uber and Taxi System is excellent and smoothly run. So is the Baggage Carousel, Immigration, Customs, etc. etc. WOW!

Don’t compare, Don’t Complain.
Instead of giving GDP numbers, GDP/Capita and all those Statistics to make you feel good or bad, I decided to answer Nagarajan Sir’s question in the form of a long meandering discourse.
Now, it is an experience that is just as good or not as good as any Bank Office in the US or China or any where else.
India has a space program that seeks to reap military as well as civilian benefits in this so-called race which there is none.
Now for some areas of discomfort.
Look at each individual Eco-system within your immediate environs, that works in your land, in your local Area and if you are not discomfited, then all is fine. “Experience” is the key here.
China is a polity; India is a polity. So far so good.
Your Corner D-Marts gave me the same “experience” as any that I had in Japan, China or Korea.
Afterall, Whatsapp, FB, mobile smart phones, have all helped us interact as well as avoid pesky and nosy neighbors and relatives.

The other factor is TIME. This is where the paradox comes in.
Beyond that how logical would it be for one to pick a number based on the number of trips, the Planet Earth makes around the Sun?
How long would it take for “Vishwa Parihasa ” to catch up with “Dung Po Pew”.
Again, in any urban setting in India, the Malls are an eco-system as good as any experience in China.
This paradox argues that Viswa Parihasa, a swifter than Dung runner, can never overtake the slower Dung Poo Pew, who has a head start by the way, because by the time Viswa Parihasa reaches the Dung's starting point, Dung will have moved forward, and Viswa must then catch up to that new position, repeating this process… ad infinitum.
